10 GAMES THAT WERE BANNED IN CERTAIN COUNTRIES
The fans of video games are all over the world, and they
enjoy a lot while playing video games. The fans are always excited to get

will be surprised to know that there are some video games which had to face ban
in some countries. Many countries have passed restricting laws to ban theses
games and here are the games which are banned in different countries:-
- Pokémon Go
The government of Iran has banned Pokémon
Go without specifying the reasons. The officials of Iran have stated that the
game has been banned for security reasons, and the government further noted
that the video game is encouraging Zionism, other religious intolerance, and
gambling. Iran was the first nation to ban Pokémon Go. The two boys who were
nine years old sued the makers of game for promoting gambling. They said while
using the Pokémon Trading Card Game, both of them were caught into gambling.
- Mortal Kombat
Japan has restricted Mortal Kombat, and the
officials said that the game is promoting extreme violence. It has been found
that sometimes violence is shown in the game or movies encourage violence among
the people. Still, video games are often designed only to entertain the people
and so to restrict such games in any country is quite surprising.
- Homefront
The relations between the divided Korean nations
are very much tensed, and so the video game Homefront has to face a ban by the
government of South Korea. The story of the game was written by John Milius,
who made the plot by involving the fictional tale of the invasion of the United
States by Korea.
- The Guy Game
The Guy Game used to reward the correct answers given by the
fans by showing them the unclad player women in the game. One girl who was just
seventeen years old sue the company for using her footage in the title as she
claimed that she did not know about it. This caused the makers of the game to
pull off their sleeves.
- Bully
Bully was banned in Brazil as the anti-bullying
activists and some political organizations were turned against the game, citing
it as the medium promoting violence and bullying. However, the game was based
on the simple jokes and situation of the schoolyard, but the activists were not
ready to hear anything leading the case to ban the game.
- Marc Ecko’s getting up: Contents Under Pressure
Marc Ecko was an action-thriller focusing on graffiti, but
it was banned by Australia, stating that this would encourage
illegal practices among the youth. The censor board said that the games have
used the original names of some artists of graffiti and depicted them as they
all started their careers by performing graffiti illegally on the public
buildings and monuments, and this is even going on till today.
- Mass effect
Mass effect was developed by Microsoft and Bioware and was a
science fiction thriller role-playing game. The media development authority
Of Singapore banned the game due to the scenes of love affairs
between humans and aliens and the depiction of erotic lesbian relationships.
However, the ban was later lifted the Media authority, and they gave it
eighteen plus rating.
- X-Men Destiny and Too Human
The games were developed by Silicon Knights but had to face
the ban following the closure of the developer company. The Silicon Knights
were sued by the Epic games for misusing their Unreal Engine.
- EA Sports MMA
EA Sports MMA was banned in Denmark as the
developer of the games used some energy in the advertisement of the game, and
these energy drinks were banned in Denmark. Denmark’s government asked the
publishers of the game to remove the energy drinks from the advertisement, but
the latter refused, which led to the ban on the game.
- Football Manager 2005
The game was banned in China as the Chinese
government discovered that the developers of the game had represented Taiwan
and Tibet as separate and independent countries, and China depicts both
countries as part of their republic. The objection raised by the Chinese
government further led to ban the game.
